Sometimes you do not need to use a full package of tools, just a short and quick program to read and convert your Grib data files. Here you find a link to wgrib, a small program that allows you to read grib files and dkrz_readgrib that works similar to wgrib.

The Standard Ocean Model PostProcessor allows you to work with ocean data files with all kinds of irregular grids.

The extra tools lets you work with extra formatted files. These tools are not supported by the model & data group.

Important are the extra and serv programs to swap between little and big endian representations of data.
