CERA Database

The CERA database is the technical backbone of the WDCC.

CERA stands for Climate and Environmental Retrieval and Archive.

 

CERA is a database based

  • Catalogue
  • Archive

The catalogue information is made up of several modules which do extend the basic information given in the entry block.

In it's implementation at M&D/DKRZ the CERA database uses an Oracle 9i database and Oracle 10g Application Server running on NEC TX7 and Sun Solaris systems. It is structured as federated database, providing high scalability within the future.

 

In 2005 this implementation achieved Grand Prize award winner status in Database Size, Other, All and TopTen Winner status Database Size, Other, Linux; Workload, Other, Linux in Winter Corp.’s 2005 TopTen Program!
